Regeneration of coastal front

Regeneration of coastal front

The current situation of the coastal zone of Eleusis is characterized by extracts of public space. Along the coastal road of Kanellopoulou, a basic course is proposed, a backbone that runs through the urban and the natural landscape, unifying on the one hand landmarks of cultural interest (factories BOTRYS, Eleourgiki, IRIS, KRONOS, Roman baths) and on the other hand parts of the coastal zone that today belong to the O.L.E. Movement as a derivative of space also sets in motion the visual correlation of the viewer with the landscape that alternates. The route starts from the western part of Kanellopoulou Street at the height of the BOTRYS factory, to end at the eastern entrance of the city. It is about creating a continuous walk of pedestrians along the entire length of the coast. A second basic route is formed along Stathi Street, unifying the coastal zone with the listed buildings of the IRIS factory and the residential complex of O.E.K.The natural element is an integral part of urban topography, which is why it has been treated as an equal synthetic tool for the organization of space. Thus, a new landscape of urbanity is created, which has spaces with special qualities, producing places of collectivity and social intercourse.
