Complex of vacation houses

Complex of vacation houses

The plot is located within the settlement of Kalyves in the Municipality of Armes in the prefecture of Chania, Crete. It has an area of 2,400 m2 and is characterized by its obnocular irregular shape and the intense elevation differences in the morphology of the ground. The total building of the complex is 1430 m2. The architectural composition of the buildings and the surrounding area were made in parallel and equally. The careful adaptation of the buildings and outdoor configurations to the natural terrain created a system of polygonal stepped levels. The residential complex is treated within a framework of single engravings resulting from the dominant polygonal shape of the plot. The houses are arranged linearly following the thongs of the boundaries of the plot. The organization of the faiences involves the definition of a "back" to the boundary of the plot. This ensures the required privacy and highlights the view to the landscape. The complex consists of two two-storey building volumes. The typology of the apartments provides for the organization of the day-long areas in N-A and N-W orientation so that the living room ensures the unobstructed view and direct contact with the private outdoor area. In the central building volume, the bedrooms occupy the "back" space of the house ensuring isolation conditions. The orientation of the rooms is mainly south and southwest.
