Restoration and reuse of the Roidis Tower and landscaping of the surrounding area

The mansion belonged to the Roidi family and is located in the Panagia district of Syriotissa, in the plain of Chios. The current orchard has a total area of 14,450 m2. It includes the mansion with a gate to the northwest, two manganese, two cisterns and a section of stonework of an older building. The mansion in its current form is developed on two levels. The following is the typical organization that we find in most of the mansions of Kampos. The front of the street is formed by high walls, one side of the building and the large arched gate that is the entrance to the courtyard. Around the yard are arranged the house, the manganese with the cistern as well as the access to the orchard. The chard, an open vestibule to the reception room upstairs, was a living space during the summer months. Its location is marked on the façade with a cantilever supported by forks that allows a better view of the road. The ground floor areas had ancillary uses. These uses could be storage, craft or staff stay. Access to these areas is external. The purpose of the study is the restoration of the existing tower on the north side, the reconstruction of the tower on the south side and their transformation into a single tourist accommodation. Along with the main buildings, the stable building will be reconstructed, the manganese, the cistern, the gate and the gate to the orchard will be restored for each of the two towers, which are key features of the mansions of Kampos. In particular, for the second tower from which part of the northwest face is preserved, a low part of the southeast side as well as the contours of the foundations, the method of comparative restoration is followed.
