Regeneration of public space and landscaping of a natural playground
Regeneration of public space and landscaping of a natural playground
The object of the study is the redevelopment of a section of the block 64 which is located in the northwest of the central square of the Thracomacedonian community of the Municipality of Acharnes. This area will constitute a point of reference for the Thracomacedonian community. The present design provides the opportunity for an evolving intervention aiming the integrating of all the free public spaces surrounding the central square. Basic tools of this evolving redevelopment are:
- the redesign of the local road network to the necessary traffic dimensions,
- the assurance of additional spaces for pedestrians, bicycles, green and urban equipment,
- the organization of temporary parking to the minimum necessary limits while ensuring the maximum possible number of places,
- the right implementation of the specifications for the accessibility of the disabled.
- the standardization of urban equipment and the gradual abrogation of its diversity,
- the creation of a local cycling network
In the center of the redeveloped area, a natural playground is included, which will be addressed both to the residents of the Thracomacedonian community and to those of neighboring areas. Its equipment will address the second age group of children (from 6 to 12 years old), as it will function in addition to the one already located in Aristotelous Square and equipped with instruments for the first age group of children.
