Landscaping of the yard of the 72nd elementary school "Andreas Kalvos"
The object of the study was the configuration of the courtyard of an elementary school with a total area of 1120 m2. Our office offered to assist the parents' and guardians' association of this particular school in the effort to implement a modern courtyard that will respond to issues of safety, functionality, aesthetics, bioclimatic performance and educational quality. The school consists of two wings that grow on the north (Eptahalkos) and on the west (Ephesian) side of the plot. The main entrance is located on Aktaiou Street. A downward ramp leads to the interior of the courtyard. The courtyard has the form of a C into which enters the building of the neighboring kindergarten. The external fencing on Aktaiou Street is reshaped with the use of processed and colored logs that resemble oversized pencils. Then of the entrance ramp, uneven and different diameter cylindrical living rooms are placed. A small ramp with geometry corresponding to the new design is implemented. In a diagonal engraving, from one end of the ramp to the inside of the flower floor, three trees are included. At the boundary of the eastern fencing with the end of the grandstand, a large-width slide is placed. A hilly hug is formed that covers half the surface of the grandstand and ends at the wall of the descent ramp. This surface and its interior, where the slide ends, is paved with a cast elastic fall floor. At the level of the courtyard, an inner part of the hug, elastic colored balls of different diameters are placed. In the rest of the courtyard, the athletic infrastructure of the basket court is maintained, but in several places it is "undermined" by its mutuality with a double track corridor. The two color surfaces (the basket blue and the track's tile) are surrounded by the black one. Inside the black surface are revealed the tops of a hemp that runs through it, they are the whites of different diameters. In the perimeter hallway, the system of acrylic resins of yellow color is applied. The black subdivisions along the two directions by the numerical or even grammatical elements refer to elements of distance measurement. At the junction of the two corridors, floor chess is implemented with color treatment of the final surface of the floor. The remaining part of the grandstand is lined with wooden boards. Lining with boards is also made in other places surrounding the yard and are used as benches.
