Configuration of an existing playground

As part of the sponsorship program "Urban Oasis", managed by the Partnership Team on behalf of Coca-Cola Hellenic, we studied and supervised the configuration of the new playground located in the park of Ypsilon Alonia in the Municipality of Egialia. Its total area, about 400 m2, allowed the formation of separate play zones aimed at different age groups. The eastern section is the play area for the 5-14 age group. The small space in contact with the corridor, is a play hug. The space incorporated the trunk of the large palm tree and was bordered by trunks vertically and horizontally placed. The large subway is addressed to the age group 3-8 years. A special construction of the game is the "tents of the Indians". Three wooden logs connected by ropes define the volume of a "tent", a space that enhances role play. The regeneration proposal was adapted to the parameters of the existing space, including vegetation and soil relief as a planning tool for the demarcation of activity areas. The reconstruction was part of the educational sustainable design as they were used and integrated in the operation of the playground: a) recyclable and non-toxic materials, equipment, b) natural floors that ensure the drainage of water, c) drinking water for watering plants . The play areas (sandpits) were shaped with irregularly curved lips. This application monitors the entire perimeter and, as the case may be, wooden logs were placed, horizontally or vertically. In some places stone elements were used. The inside of the dug and 20-40 cm thick is filled with pebbles. Special pre-treatment has been done for the drainage of rainwater. In addition to demarcation, logs are also used as sitting areas or as part of the game.
