Configuration of play area

Configuration of play area

As part of the sponsorship program "Urban Oasis", managed by the Partnership Team on behalf of Coca-Cola Hellenic, we studied and supervised the configuration of the new playground located on Agios Konstantinos Street in the Agyia area of the Municipality of Patras. Its area is about 380 m2 and is aimed at children aged 5-14 years. The proposal was adapted to the parameters of the existing space by incorporating vegetation and soil relief as a planning tool for the demarcation of activity areas. In order to create an interesting relief in the ground we created a low earthen hill at the top of which leads a "path" of pruned tree trunks that also function as natural habitats. The configuration is part of the educational sustainable design as recyclable and non-toxic materials were used in the equipment, natural floors that ensure the drainage of water, drinking water for watering plants. The play areas (sandpits) were formed with lips from tree trunks. This application monitors their entire perimeter. The inside of the sandpit, 30 cm thick, is filled with pebbles. For the drainage of rainwater, a special preparation has been made as a drainage pipe was placed on which inert rock material was laid and above it, a protective geotextile was placed.
