Public Space


The configurations in the public space are divided into three different scales. The first includes areas of large-scale hyperlocal interest, the second refers to areas of medium-scale local interest (squares, pedestrian streets, parks) and the last microscale projects that concern the entire intermediate public space that brings together the large and medium-scale areas. The Charter of Pedestrians' Rights (resolution in the European Parliament in 1988), the Copenhagen Declaration (text adopted at the 1996 General Assembly of Car-Free Cities) and the Status Erupttal Access Charter (as adopted by the European Council of Transport Ministers in 1999) provided important directions to be incorporated into the design of outdoor spaces.The limitation of the surfaces occupied by the car, the expansion of the surfaces that concern pedestrians, the safe presence and movement of children and disabled people in public spaces, the integration of the traffic networks of cyclists, the increase of green surfaces, the proper management of parking issues, the choices of bioclimatic materials and structures and finally the detailed design are the basic principles for the implementation of studies of public spaces. Our office has been thoroughly involved in public space projects at all design scales, more specifically our office provides services for :

The members of our office have participated and distinguished themselves in many architectural competitions on issues of configurations of public spaces. Several of these works have been exhibited and published. Our multidisciplinary team includes surveyors, landscape architects, phytosmen, light arts and energy consultants.
